The Toyota FJ40 is the model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series made from 1960 until 1984. Most 40 series Land Cruisers were built as two-door vehicles with approximately the same dimensions as a Jeep CJ. The newest model in the FJ family is the FJ Cruiser, a modern design based on the original FJ40. The new model was introduced to the world at the 2003 Chicago Auto Show. The Cruiser model was not originally intended for production, but due to significant consumer buzz following its concept unveiling, Toyota added it to the product-line. The FJ Cruiser went on sale in the spring of 2006 to an anxiously awaiting public.
